• God’s Provision

There have been many times in my life when I have wished that God would just outright tell me what to do.  Circumstances being muddy and the way unclear has frustrated me, especially since I truly want to please my Lord. Lately though, God seems to have made the way perfectly clear.  My husband and I decided to move out into the country from our suburban residence.  Over and over throughout the process of selecting a mobile home and getting in all the services, God has expedited things. A strong example is yesterday, when our mobile home was delivered.  Conditions at our home site were such that the soil was…

  • Big and Little Things

It has been a challenging day. Yesterday I was out in the sun and put on a sunscreen I don’t usually use.  I knew as soon as I put it on that my skin didn’t like it much but I had nothing with which to clean it off.  My face didn’t appear too red so I thought I was okay.  Well after rubbing my face in my pillow all night I ended up with a severe allergic reaction on my face.  It has been extraordinarily itchy and somewhat painful.  Not a pleasant way to spend a lovely long weekend day.  I look like someone who has been in a bad…

  • A Moving Experience

I was counting up the amount of times I have moved since I left home at the age of 18.  The number is great and that really disturbs me.  What it says is that I have no roots.  The longest I have lived in one place is six years.  While I have lived in many diverse places – Canada’s north, the Lower Mainland in BC, the mountains of Alberta, and the prairie towns of Saskatchewan, no place is what I would call “home”. I have been blessed, through it all, to experience much of the beauty my country has to offer.  I have met so many amazing people in all…

  • To be able to eat anything

Six months into a significant diet change – for intolerance reasons – has left me frustrated.  Going grocery shopping is very frustrating as over and over I am presented with food that I cannot eat.  My diet is very restricted – no nuts, dairy, or gluten.  To make matters worse, I react to xanthan gum, a primary ingredient in almost all commercial gluten free products. While I like to bake and have developed some gluten free bread recipes that work for me; there are days when I just wish I could be lazy and purchase a store bought loaf of bread.  There have been a number of days when I…

  • Garage Sales

My neighbours are having a garage sale today.  It always amazes me how much stuff people can end up having for sale.  I used to do a great deal of looking at garage sales when my children were younger and I needed toys, bikes, books, and games for them. It was was perfect opportunity to take advantage of people who were selling things that their children outgrew. Many garage sales are more than outgrown children’s things.  I wonder, what does it say about our society when many people are able to fill multiple tables full of stuff that they no longer need?  The chances are, in our shopping driven world,…
