• Beneath the Cross of Jesus

    From the time I was a child I loved to sing.  Singing in both school and church choirs was a large part of my young life.  Music has always touched me deeply.  In times of difficulty, many of the Christian hymns are my solace.  In times of joy, they are an avenue to praise God. One hymn that I always enjoyed singing as a youth is Beneath the Cross of Jesus.  It is not in our current church hymnal so I haven’t sung it for some time.  This week I am doing research for a project and this hymn came to mind.   • Unlikely Places

    She sits on her nest, doing what God designed her to do – protect her eggs.  Patiently she sits there each day, through high heat and strong winds, through rainstorms and children playing.  While what she is doing is normal for a mother bird, where she is doing it is not. Our dear lovely robin is making her home in the propane tank that heats our home.  In amidst the valves the nest is sitting and the mother bird barely has head room to sit on the eggs.
