God’s Amazing Plan
The Christmas story of the birth of Jesus Christ is no random sequence of events. Each intricate piece of this account was planned from the beginning of time. Our loving Heavenly Father set all things in motion, knowing from the start that we would need a Saviour from our sins.
Every character in the Christmas story was carefully chosen to spread the wonderful Gospel message. This eclectic group of people came together, as Scripture foretold, to herald the birth of our Saviour.
Firstly, there are Jesus’ earthly parents. Mary would have been a teenage girl at the time of Jesus’ birth but God chose her to carry His Son, knowing of her trust in Him. Neither she, nor Joseph (a carpenter), were noteworthy persons as far as the world goes, yet God chose them to nurture our Lord in His early days.
Even the reigning Caesar had a part in this drama. It was thanks to his edict that all return to their ancestral homes for a census that caused Jesus to be born in Bethlehem as Scripture foretold. This massive moving of people resulted in overcrowded accommodations. This created the need for Jesus to be born in a stable – a very unique place.
The news of Jesus’ birth was not first shared with the affluent or influential. Instead, when the angel hosts proclaim Jesus’ birth, it was done to simple shepherds. These uneducated men became the first people to share this great news with others that our Saviour had been born. This shows that the wonderful salvation that Jesus brings is for all people – common or not.

Every part of Jesus’ birth was well planned and foretold in Scripture. God wants us to be certain that we know Jesus is His Son. Jesus’ birth is no random historical event. It is part of our loving Heavenly Father’s longstanding plan. Our salvation has always been God’s priority.
The question is now, do we consider it a priority? Do we want God’s plan? Do we want to trust Him? Do we want to live for Him?
That involves a leap of faith. It’s opening our hearts and minds to the magnificent saving grace of God – the absolute best Christmas gift we could ever get.
God’s salvation plan involves more than just saying we believe it. We are called to share this wonderful Good News with others. Even more so, it involves taking risks by going into areas we never dreamed of before. It is trusting in Almighty God to guide and lead us throughout our lives.
It is my prayer dear friends that we can be instruments of God’s purpose, helping to make the way for the Gospel message to take root in people’s hearts and minds and let them know of the healing power of Jesus. We can’t make people accept this salvation gift, but we can show others that it’s there and the difference it has made in our own lives.
God is waiting for each of us – to receive His freely given gift of salvation – not earned by any works we can do. May His amazing salvation plan be fulfilled in you.
